The support contract for also the nuclear industry, home textile, shipbuilding industry, health industry and technology clusters were signed within the scope of the Clustering Support Program, that aims to increase competitiveness.

Contracts for 5 more cluster were signed by the Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology within the scope of the Cluster Support Program, that aims to provide a production and knowledge-based transformation in the manufacturing industry and to increase competitiveness. Speaking at the signature meeting, Science, Industry and Technology Minister Mr. Faruk Özlü said that the ministry and its subsidiaries have carried out very important support programs to improve industrial production both quantitatively and qualitatively. Sharing details of the program, Mr. Özlü said “The Cluster Enterprises have created with all the stakeholders that include private sector, universities and non-governmental organization and prepared 5-year business plan. We will give grants at the rate of 50 percent to the business plans deemed worthy of support. The total budget of 5 projects for 5 years will be 102 million TL and we will meet halt of it, 51 million TL.
 
The clustering support contracts were signed for the Cluster of Nuclear Industry (NUKSAK), Cluster of Sustainable Home Textile (SETEK), Cluster of Ship Building Industry, Istanbul Cluster of Health Industry (ISEK) and OSTİM Cluster of Clean Technology (OSTEK) as a result of the evaluation of independent evaluators who assigned by the ministry between 16 different clusters that were applied to 2nd call for support for implementation of the Clustering Support Program in order to support the cluster enterprises. Stating that they aimed to create a structural transformation in the industry with the Cluster Support Program, Mr. Özlü said “We carry out the projects that will increase our competitiveness, innovation, efficiency, technology levels, qualified labour force and thus our share of world exports” 
 
The 3nd call for support is on the way.

Stating that they would make the 3nd call of the cluster support program in May, Mr. Özlü cited the expectations of the cluster enterprises as 'to determine the vision and the strategies well, to prepare the road maps in agreement, to cooperate with a scientific institution or organization'.
 
The sectoral attainment have been increasing by supports

Providing information about the clusters that will be supported Mr. Özlü said “We are going to accomplish the first pilot production facility of modular medical devices in Turkey for Istanbul Cluster of Health Industry (ISEK) and young entrepreneurs in Healthcare Industry. Minister Mr. Ozlu said that Cluster of Ship Building Industry (GEMI) in Yalova will be an important design centre for Ship Industry and will make pilot production facility for home textile in Bursa-based project.
 
Stating that the material and equipment required by the nuclear power plants couldn’t be developed, Mr. Özlü said “I hope we will be able to produce these products as a result of the support that we have provided with the Cluster of Nuclear Industry (NUKSAK). Özlü stated that they will begin works to develop clean technologies in OSTİM Zone with Ostim Cluster of Clean Technologies (OSTEK) project.
 
“Nuclear could be the driving force of national development”

Giving information about NÜKSAK to be coordinated by Yavuz Cabbar, who is General Secretary of the Ankara Chamber of Industry (ASO), Mr. Nurettin Özdebir President of ASO Board said “Besides the contributions it provides as a part of nuclear power plant supply security, these plants offer economic, industrial and technological benefits to the country”. Stating that a large amount of state support is required to take advantage of the benefits, Mr. Özdebir said “If the establishment of a heavy industrial infrastructure for nuclear power plants is completed with long-term and direct state support patiently; as the driving force of the nuclear sector's national development movement, this will be an important factor in order to save Turkey's current account deficit”. Giving information about OSTEK, Mr. Orhan Aydin; President of OSTIM Board, said also that the capacities of SMEs will be improved with the cluster support program and they will give priority to the development of the sector. In the meeting Prof. Cengizhan Öztürk; the Institute of Biomedical Engineering of BÜ, Mr. Bilgehan Bayramoğlu; Deputy Chairman of GİSPİT, and Mr. Osman Nuri Canik; Vice President of Uludağ Textile Exporters Union shared information about the clusters.
