The 'Home Textile Cluster Project’ that was initiated by Bursa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BTSO), will contribute to improve the competitiveness of sector representatives and increase potential of opening to new markets and exports.
 

The BTSO, which established clusters in Aerospace and Defence and Rail Systems areas in order to carry out the transition attack in industry and to provide sector varieties in Bursa, has continued its studies on Wind Turbines and Chemistry fields, and is getting ready to sign new projects. Bursa Chamber of Commerce and Industry is getting ready to make an application for the Cluster of Home Textile Project with the budget of approximately 12 million dollars, which was called up under the Cluster Support Program of the Ministry of Science and Industry and Technology. BTSO aims to collect the companies operating in home textile sector under one roof, thus it would like to create companies that can be significant for the sector while having stronger position on global market.

 “TURKEY ASSUMES THE LEADING ROLE”

Mr. İbrahim Burkay; President of BTSO Board, said that Turkey has a significant share on home textiles industries all around the world. Stating that this sector is the first one in Europe, President Mr. Burkay emphasised that Bursa has a strong position both in terms of production and export for home textile in local and international markets for many years.

 “WE WOULD LIKE TO MAKE BURSA A TRADEMARK”

Mr. Burkay; the president of BTSO Board, stated that the Cluster of Home Textile Project encourages companies to increase their export capacities and open them to new markets. Saying that home textile companies in Bursa aim to realize more added value production, Mr. Burkay also said “We aim to get a stronger structure for our companies global market of today. We must use the resources provided to our SMEs more efficiently and effectively. Clustering is also one of the most important ways to carry out this necessity. As of BTSO, we would like to make Bursa a city that does not only manufacture and commercialise but also is designer and forms a trademark. Absolutely we would like to our companies to benefit from the clustering project which will increase their competitiveness in the international areas.”

 “THE MOST BEAUTIFUL EXAMPLE OF COLLABORATION BETWEEN UNIVERSITY AND INDUSTRY”

Giving support for the Cluster Project as one of the stakeholders, Prof. Yusuf Ulcay; The Rector of Uludağ University, said that the Cluster Support Program of the Ministry of Science and Industry and Technology will contribute to the development of the productivity for the companies and to the production of added value and high-tech products. Stating that the clustering will provide qualified labour force and create environmental consciousness at the same time, Mr. Ulcay said “As of Uludağ University, we are ready to present academic support to the companies in clustering projects. The clustering is one of the most beautiful examples of collaboration between universities and industries. Our companies will increase the quality of the sector while taking part in clustering projects. Absolutely we would like to let the member companies in Bursa create a different dynamic for home textile sector.

 “WE MUST NOT MISS THIS OPPORTUNITY”

Mr. Ersan Özsoy; General Manager of Polyteks, said that Bursa has an important potential in home textile sector. Mr. Özsoy also emphasised that he believes that the clustering studies initiated by the BTSO will provide great benefits to the city and Turkish economy. We must move in concert for the future of our industry. The clustering project that are supported by BTSO and the ministry create great opportunities for us. The unique power of Bursa in home textile when compared the other parts of Turkey is known by everyone. We should bring our sector, that has an important potential for export capacity of Bursa so as to reach a stronger position. For this reason, we must not miss this opportunity of cluster.

 THE POWER OF COOPERATION IS A MUST FOR THE FUTURE OF COMPANIES

Mr. Cabir Sökücü; Chairman of Sökücüler Textile, stated that the companies that have developed day by day should move absolutely with the times. Stating that movement with the times is crucial to survive, Mr. Sökücü said “At the moment, the companies that have made collaboration and moved together, can win. Also, our home textile companies where this change is dominant must also unite their forces.” Cluster of Home Textile Project is a great opportunity for us. We must evaluate it well”.

 “I BELIEVE THAT THE CLUSTER PROJECT WILL BE BENEFICIAL”

Stating that the Cluster Project has offered important advantages for the companies, Mr. Bayhan Cambaz; Head of 25. committee; said “Our companies would like to expand their horizons. This project aims to let the company exceed their limits and become experst for new markets. Increasing of export, sales and productivity are on the focus of the companies in the cluster through this kind of projects. In this respect, I believe that the cluster project initiated by BTSO would be useful.”

DEADLINE FOR APPLICATION: JULY 1, 2015

The companies specialized in the sector started to take their place in the Cluster of Home Textile, that will bring the sector representatives together in Bursa. Many member companies of the cluster, such as Kinteks, Polyteks, Burkay Tekstil, Dina- Vanelli, Elvin Textile, Güleser Textile, Rekor Dokuma, Akarca Textile, Harput Textile and Elvin Textile participated in the project. On the other hand, deadline for application is expired on July 1, 2015.
