Bursa Coordination and Technology R & D Centre BUTEKOM that remains its activities under the umbrella of Bursa Chamber of Commerce and Industry, continues to work to strengthen science and technology capacity of Turkey on nanotechnology.

BUTEKOM which continues establishment preparations of Nanotechnology Excellence Centre, started working on Cluster for Nanotechnology, which is planned to apply as a part of the Cluster Support Program of the Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology, with the coordination of TUBITAK MAM. While 31 companies including BTSO and Uludağ University as subsidiaries for them, in energy, automotive, aerospace and defence, electronics, textile, health and construction sectors are involved in this project, the project aims to develop at least two domestic products on nanotechnology for each sector.

TO BE CONCENTRATED ON HEAVY FLAMMABLE PRODUCTS

BUTEKOM that was established in line with the proposals of four different projects in textile sector within the scope of this project that would be carried out jointly by BUTEKOM and TUBITAK MAM. It is aimed to be carried out in cooperation with 7 companies and two institutions in the project "heavy flammable" aiming to provide properties of heavy flammable, antibacterial and multifunctional properties (antibacterial, stain resistance, UV resistance) for textile products. The project that is created with different phases of production to be developed in nano size and to be used in different production methods in the textile sector, will focus on the design of the products that have the 'heavy flammable' features. These products developed are aimed to be used against potential fire hazards where high performance is required, such as military uniforms, personal protective equipment, fire brigades and police uniforms. The project which will increase the added value in textile and chemical sectors and accelerate academic studies, will be subsidized for up to 25 million TL by the Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology for five years.

102 MILLION LIRAS SUPPORT FOR 5 CLUSTERS

Cluster Support Program aims to increase production and information-based transformation in manufacturing industry and increase the competitiveness of companies. The works carried out by companies that is operating in the same or complementary sectors in cooperation with universities and public institutions provide that cluster members and sectors have stronger position on global market. Lastly, totally 102 Million Liras support were started to provide for 5 clusters including Cluster of Sustainable Home Textiles last year.
